South Fulton, Georgia Mayor William “Bill” Edwards has named Chad Jones as the city’s new fire chief. Along with this new role, Chief Jones will also serve as the chair or co-chair of various committees within the Southeastern Association of Fire Chiefs. For POLIHIRE, the appointment of Jones to this position also represents a longstanding and successful collaboration with the City of South Fulton that literally began with the city’s chartering four years ago.
A fire service veteran of more than 25 years, Jones brings unparalleled experience to South Fulton. In 2018, he was elected to the Georgia Fire Chiefs Association as third vice president. He is a member of the Metro Atlanta Fire Chiefs Association, the International Association of Fire Chiefs and the National Fallen Firefighter Foundation.
Jones is a graduate of the Fire Service Executive Development Institute, Leadership Atlanta, and Harvard’s Executive Education. He earned a master’s degree in public safety administration from Columbus State University and a bachelor’s degree in fire and emergency services from the University of Florida.
