City of Creedmoor

The City of Creedmoor (NC) is seeking a visionary City Manager with the ability to lead, collaborate, relate and communicate effectively to a broad range of people, both internally and in the community. Founded in April 1885 and incorporated in 1905, the City of Creedmoor is located in southern Granville County, North Carolina. Creedmoor is located within a one-half hour drive of multiple major research universities, to include North Carolina Central University, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Duke University, and North Carolina State University. Its close proximity to major interstates, the research triangle area of North Carolina, Raleigh-Durham International Airport, multiple performing arts venues and many places to shop and dine, make Creedmoor an ideal location to live, work and play.

The Position

The City Manager is appointed by the Board of Commissioners and serves at their pleasure as the chief administrative/executive officer of the organization. The City Manager is responsible to the Board for administering all municipal affairs. The City Manager exercises control and general supervision of all city employees. The Mayor and Board seek a City Manager who can work on the City’s behalf as a partner with the business community and encourage community involvement and foster volunteerism. The City Manager should have a demonstrated track record of community involvement and active participation within their community.

The next City Manager must have a strong respect for the Council/Manager form of government and possess the political savvy to work effectively with the Commissioners and other local and regional leaders. The next Manager should also be highly communicative, committed to enhancing the City’s public image, and willing to interact with the media as an ally to City. The next Manager should also build on the existing collaborative practices within city government to establish a culture of accountability, innovation, and consistent customer service.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will possess a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university. An advanced degree is preferable. Experience of an increasingly responsible nature in municipal administration, preferably with some experience in local government finance and accounting is desired.
