Zack Schwartz – Chief Information and Technology Officer, Events DC

May 1, 2023

POLIHIRE had already had the opportunity to help identify Events DC’s CEO, so we were able to hit the ground running when the District’s premier host of sports, entertainment, business, and cultural events was ready to find a Chief Information and Technology Officer (CITO). For Events DC, information and technology are at once the backbone of the behind-the-scenes infrastructure and an enabling feature of an array of cutting-edge, customer-facing services and offerings.

It is the role of the CITO to create a vision of and shepherd a strategy for how information and technology will optimize organizational functions, such as e-procurement and security, as well as deliver superior experiences across Events DC’s multiple venues, including the Walter E. Washington Convention Center and the new R.I.S.E Demonstration Center. Zack Schwartz’s track record of visionary leadership in the digital space, proven ability to deliver impactful and enterprise-scale IT projects, and demonstrated proficiency in promoting and introducing the use of data as a strategic asset for customers and partners made him a clear front-runner in our search.

With executive roles in information and systems management in extremely large organizations, Zack brings significant skills at scale to Events DC. Among his many accomplishments are leading the gold-medal-award-winning team that designed and implemented a massive technology modernization and migration at the U.S. Census Bureau. Additionally,Zack’s information and technology leadership at the U.S. Department of Commerce was instrumental to the Department’s safe, post-pandemic reopening. On top of all of this, Zack is a fully-sworn Reserve Officer in the DC Metropolitan Police Department.
