Creatively engaging constituents and leveraging the force of the civic apparatus for social good is a through line of Joel Alvarado’s career. From his legislative work in DeKalb County, Georgia to his civic engagement work at both the NAACP and Georgia Piedmont Technical College, this proud Morehouse man and skilled communicator is committed to building a society in which prosperity is shared and to centering those most affected in the work.

Joel has now brought his expertise in mobilizing and activating to the Partnership for Southern Equity (PSE). This Atlanta-based organization boldly works to remove the barriers that stand between the people of the American South on one side and access and opportunity on the other. As PSE’s Vice President for Strategy and Engagement, Joel works to build and strengthen relationships across many stakeholder groups, using the power of the collective to create a more just and equitable region.
