Marcia K. Thompson is an attorney and law enforcement officer with more than 20 years of civil service, law enforcement, justice reform, and organizational management experience. She is a highly sought after expert counsel and advisor to associations, corporations, state, and federal agencies on a wide range of matters, including leadership recruitment and retention; professional standard reviews and leadership training; law enforcement policy audits and assessments; reform compliance and report evaluations, and personal performance reviews and best practices.

Beyond her legal and civil service career, Marcia served as a global human resources executive at Amazon, leading Community Innovation. She also served as a law enforcement administrator at the University of Chicago Police Department, where she oversaw professional standards, accreditation, compliance, training, records management, and recruitment, in support of the university’s transparency and inclusion initiative.

Marcia has been an active member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police’s Civil and Human Rights Committee. In addition, she has provided insight and guidance on timely and novel civil rights and human rights matters impacting law enforcement nationally, including bias-free policing, use of force, constitutional policing, procedural justice, hate crimes, and affinity group protections. Marcia is a Virginia Supreme Court certified mediator and has served as General Counsel and advisor to the National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives.
